Thanx, Eileen, et al! I really like Canna foliage, too! :-))

The foliage is lovely.
What do with yours over winter?
There's a house in the village where my workshop is that has the most amazing display of Cannas every summer which are all in pots.

This one is in a park greenhouse, Meanie. My own plants are in containers, too - large ceramic pots. I used to have a greenhouse, now I just use the shed - same treatment. Before first frost predicted,I cut all foliage and stems down to compost surface level, wrap the pots (which will get very cold in winter) in several rounds of horticultural fleece. Also, I. cover the whole surface of the pot/s, as Canna stems are hollow and will hold water, which will freeze. Indoors, in a shed or greenhouse, they will be safey from water. I don't water at all throughout winter. I leave them "forgotten" about, until May.

Important to use fleece, rather than something like plastic bubble wrap, as you still need air circulation to prevent moisture and damp-rot.

When you unwrap the fleece late Spring, this might be a goood time to empty the pots and divide and replant (not an expert, just from experience).

I just follow what my Dad does, and it all works well.Neither of us are experts, however. But seems to be "sensible" - and it works!

This is what I have to do, hoping you find something useful here. :-))

Thanks David!
Time for me to go shopping. Kinda fancy an area with Datura & Cannas next too each other.

This sounds like a "tropical paradise" combo, to me, Meanie. More chance of you getting this ,than me. Oxfordshire? I know every nook 'n' cranny of Henley, but not much else, except Oxford, itself! :-))

Witney.
Go get yourself some Datura seeds now, they're very fast growing!
If you can get your Cannas to bloom then you'll have no trouble with Datura.

Tried sowing "Blackberry Swirl" seeds this Spring, Meanie, but they never germinated. :-((
