Clematis tangutica

Clematis tangutica (Clematis tangutica (Clematis))

Slow spring set it back in the start, this is the first fall bloom, proceeding to develop into a seed, one of only three to get that far before the cold set in. Indian summer through those last weeks brought on a good flush of buds but it was consumed by a moose on the first hard frost down to the bottom 3 feet. I'm excited to see what it does next year, as I trust it to survive easily over winter.

Your plants are far hardier than I would be in that climate!

Thank you all.

Meanie, we're -32C today and I can't take more than a moment out there, why would I? But the garden is just happy as can be. Last years pansies just froze solid under my straw mulch and when I pulled it off, they just came back to life. Just amazing. You'd surprise yourself in the cold I'd guess. :-)

Shirley....lol.....yes, not that many moose foraging the green patches of GOY....lol. I would have gotten more heads if they weren't just gone now. But I did need the clematis to have a bit wider growing habit, and that trim will do it. :-)

Lovely close up picture of a lovely small Clematis flower! :-))

I have grown this Clematis from seed sent to me earlier this year by 6d! I was surprised they would flower in their first year! I have 5 or 6 plants on the allotment & a couple here on my balcony at home. Looking forward to seeing them all grow next year & giving me many more flowers & seedheads.
