Clematis Viticella Etoile violette

Janey

By Janey

Clematis Viticella Etoile violette (Clematis viticella (Viticella Group clematis))

This is my favourite Clem. I've had it quite a few years now and this was the first spring I cut it right down to the ground. I kept checking for signs of growth with fingers crossed, and I needn't have worried, once those dark red shoots appeared, up they shot and this year it covers the back and front of the arch..:))

I want to venture through that arch! Etoile is a gorgeous clematis. There is a reason for her popularity.

She's a 'goer' BA - she's halfway over my garage roof!

Obviously a star:-) I have had a rampant President for many years, Had to cut him right back to about a foot. Tamed him a bit, but he's another good do-er, flowers for ages:-)

So pretty ...

Anget, there's another president I wouldn't mind cutting down to size:-)))

It is a goer Ange, and is right over the arch and now intermingled with Nubia/Niobe...It is my very favourite Clem and never fails to deliver..:))

You must get one Ba...plant and go.. The president is beautiful ( not the one you're talking about Ba...that's for sure!) with its fabulous blooms..

It is Shirley and rambles through New Dawn and Graham Thomas roses, which haven't been too good this year...all the rain :((

It’s lovely Janey, and yes, AMAZING how these Clems make us hold our breath when we’ve cut them down to 6” and nothing happens for ages! But then all is well and we breathe again - with delight 🙂.

Thanks Sheila, I know, chopped it even less than that! And I thought, well that's the end of that then...:(( Yes, and there she was again, incredible once they get going how much growth in a day they can make...xx
