Thanx MuddyW :) I believe they have to be Pruned In March am i rite ? :)

Yes Jacque, as far as I know, Cornus alba should be pruned back hard to within a few inches of the base in March, which then encourages lots of fresh red shoots for the next winter. If left unpruned this shrub can get really big, but if it's brightly coloured stems your after then I would be severe. Treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen (or was that relationship advice ?) !!! :-))

Hi Gee is yours very old ? :)

I must have planted it about 8-10 years ago, Jacque, and it survives flood and frost and sits in heavy clay that bakes hard in summer! It has bright red stems, variegated leaves and white flower heads.
