Delonix regia "poinciana" (Delonix regia)

This Poinciana is growing in our township. It grows short with a spreading canopy . In our block these trees have to grow up amongst rainforest trees therefore they grow very tall. the herald in the summer .A glorious tree

I love the shape of this tree! And, of course, all the red flowers as well. Beautiful!

This tree does not grow true to seed , it has huge long flat seed pods .THERE ARE MANY SHADES FROM DEEP PINK THROUGH THE ORANGY COLOURS TO DEEP RED WHICH I have been after for a long time . I PLANTED DEEP RED SEEDS BUT GOT ORANGY RED FLOWERS.

I wish mine would grow that shape ,Ours they reach for the sun between rainforest trees.

Pitta:

Delonix regia - Royal Poinciana loves extremely bright
hot sun...they flourish in it. In shadier areas they
would definitely elongate and reach for the sun.

I grow Cassia fistula which does the same , reaches for the sun ,while in the town they grow shorter..

Pitta:

Yes, they are the same...they love the very hot sun.
