Do you give your Dicentra any special treatment over the winter when it disappears from view?

I have this in my front garden ( the red like yours and the white type) and I always wonder if it will reappear the following summer. Mine are only very small plants.

Are yours growing in the damp shade there?

No I don't do anything to it. It is north facing and very shady here. During the winter it's frozen shade rather than damp. It's almost too big for it's space so I am going to attempt dividing it, if I can find it.

Thanks, Chris.
That makes me think my Dicentra is planted in the right place - shady but well drained.

I think I've just been too impatient in expecting the clump to get larger.
