The root looks like a long skinny yam or sweet potato - they are supposed to be edible, but I am not about to test that, lol!

Beautiful Gramma.....we've been having a debate on here what these are.....as a few of us grow them too, yes mine are these, we thought they were J Artichokes....do yours have the stumpy root you can eat?
