Gorgeous. They are much further on than mine.

This is the plant that produces the most flowers each year! :-)) It's not particularly stripy - that must have been the light.

lovely colour barbara, i founf one of my hellebours on the grass after winds, its roots were gone and what was left of them were black :o( so sad as it had lots of buds coming, not sure if a cat had scratched it out, not happy

Lovely.

Love this one....

Oh Sandra! I am sorry to hear that. Did you check for vine weevil? Hellebores normally have a good root system, so it couldn't have been the wind. Even a cat scratching round shouldn't have pulled it it like that.

Thanks, Carol and Holly. :-)

no i didnt think about that barbara, being winter, i wondered if it because it gets so wet there, flooded infact,

Hmmm...they certainly don't like waterlogged soils, so that was probably the reason. Have you got anywhere else dryer you could plant one?

Ooooh! Nice! I love Hellebores, but they are so picky here in the desert!

10 Feb, 2011

I would imagine they would be, Tug! They seem to like cool and shady conditions!

Lovely colour, no sign of ours yet.

I have several more up and doing, Dd. We had a day's warm sunshine, which must have helped. :-)

Looking at your pic again.....I noticed your nails!! how do you keep them that long? mine are terrible, as I hate wearing gloves.

12 Feb, 2011

same here Dotty, i start off with gloves then end up taking them off, but not good for nails :o(

12 Feb, 2011

I break them sometimes and stick them down with nail glue! lol. They're actually quite strong for some reason.

I do wear gloves when I can, but weeding is impossible with gloves on.

12 Feb, 2011

I use surgical gloves which is much better for weeding B. Do you remember last year, a windy day destroyed one of my helleborus lividus? So, it could be that it was the wind that got to San's plant, if it was all happening on a single stem like mine last year. I love the colour of this one, I'm quite in to pink ones at the moment!

14 Feb, 2011

Me too. I did wonder about surgical gloves - maybe I'll give them a try. Thanks. :-)

I like ALL hellebores! :-))))))))) LOL.

14 Feb, 2011
