Ooohhh, brrrrrrrr.....Sbg - I do hope not! I have 4 of these around the garden - this is the only one with flowers. Strange!!

18 Oct, 2009

18 Oct, 2009

lovely, had seen some for sale through the season and never got any but i,ll get some for next year..

18 Oct, 2009

If you got one now, User, you'd get flowers during THIS winter! Honestly! I really don't know why this one has decided to flower in October - it's normally weeks later.

Barbara... did you prune this jasmine..or the others around your garden ?

18 Oct, 2009

Yes, I trim the long shoots back after they've flowered. It just keeps them tidy - and I tie the rest to the trellis or wires, too.

The reason I have four is that when we had the Garden room built, the trellis with the Jasmine on had to come down - so we planted the displaced plants in a temporary bed made of lumps of wood and compost. I found that the one plant had rooted itself, so I split off the babies, and there you are!

18 Oct, 2009

Yes, I made lots of babies from my main jasmine plants...
I've checked mine and none are in flower yet....
Are any other of your different plants, near to the jasmine behaving oddly...out of season ?

18 Oct, 2009

No - everything else in that bed is doing what it should! I can't understand it at all, Tt. It's against a wall, facing west, but there's another one also facing west - in the warmest part of the garden - no flowers! The others are facing east, I think.

Fascinating.... it will be interesting to see how long it keeps flowering through the winter, compared to your others. My winter jasmines are in a variety of positions ...

..stop press... I've just checked one winter jasmine on a trellis, facing north-east, the lower part gets little sun.... and there are a few yellow flowers... about 16 inches from the ground... no flowers further up yet...:o)

18 Oct, 2009

Ha! Good! But let's hope we get more later on, though - they do brighten the garden up in the middle of winter, don't they!

I'm waiting for my Prunus subhirtella autumnalis to begin to flower - the one up the lane (mature) has a few flowers out. That is an utter joy when it gets its blossom! :-))

18 Oct, 2009

My Clematis cirrhosa "Wisley Cream" is above the Winter Jasmine. It had flowers on it several weeks ago...end of August... any on yours yet ? Interesting to compare notes...!

18 Oct, 2009

Mine did the same, Tt - no sign of any more at the moment - but it normally flowers in February, I seem to remember, after 'Freckles' and 'Lansdown Gem'.

18 Oct, 2009

my Lansdowne Gem flowered in August too, hope I get more when it's supposed to flower

19 Oct, 2009

Very odd, wasn't it - C. cirrhosas flowering in the summer! Mine did, as well - particularly 'Freckles'...

19 Oct, 2009

Do not have this one, is it scented?

21 Oct, 2009

No, its not, Doon, bit of a messy grower too, needs tying in to supports, but a welcome and cheerful sight in early spring - and now too. Spritz, one of my gardens has some in flower now too, not very many, but they're there. And I've got a gladioli just opening now outside on the balcony.

21 Oct, 2009

Hmmmm...nice, though! Now what did I spot today .... oh yes! Two Hollyhocks with buds on!
