This never seems to clump up like my other Penstemons...

It's lovely though. My one and only Penstemon has come back again, this year with three stems (only 2 last year)....slowly but surely! lol....it's a sad little thing!

lol....have you been stealing my identity then Kath? ;)) no, only teasing, I know what you mean! That's a pity. They don't seem to like my garden either Kath.

Simbad I moved ours too, but still very weedy must be the plants habit.
We were lucky as all ours came through the bad winter, but decided to grow them in a more sheltered spot, and it paid off.

Dotty/Kathy - do the red stems make this a special one?Just realised I've not noticed my blue one, must look tomorrow.

Yes it is the only one that I have seen with these dark stems, there could be others but I am not an authority on penstemons lol

I haven't seen this one before Dd it's very different .... Penstemons often don't survive a bad winter we always take cuttings in the autumn as a precaution ......

This is the only one of mine that survived the winter Amy:-( should have taken cuttings but doubt theyd've survived last winter in my unheated greenhouse.

they would have done Kathy we didn't heat our greenhouse last winter and I honestly couldn't see much difference in the survival figures ... all our Penstemons survived without heat ....

Clarice really do you move it under cover during the winter? Amy must get OH to take some cuttings belt and braces....

Only had one of mine come through the winter but luckily I`d collected seed and now have loads of tiny plants, just got to hope they do not all turn out to be the same colour, only time will tell, lol....
That one is a lovely delicate shade....

They are not to difficult to take cuttings from Dd , in fact I only take off the young side shoots and pot them up , much easier than taking cuttings , I've never tried growing them from seed Linclass ,clever girl , they will fill the garden and look pretty whatever the colour :o)

No mine doesn't either, even moved it last year thinking it may be the spot it was planted in but still the same, mine looks a right sorry state at the moment, you've just reminded me to go down the garden and give it a water:-)
