I take all slugs are banned from your garden.

Believe it or not Brian,, I've only used 8 slug pellets this year. 4 each for 2 of the Ligularia. They are here but just not as abundant as normal. Rainfall still missing!

That is such a pretty corner Scottish.

Lucky you ,I am sure if it were possible to count them and snails it would amount to thousands

Thanks Klahanie - although the perennials have always been there, I removed the Kilmarnock willow and replaced with a camellia back in spring when I was putting in the trellis to divide the garden.
I'm not generally so lucky when it comes to slugs and snails Brian, believe me!

A stunning corner so clean and fresh, could not have that kind of planting here far too hot and dry...

I think all your slugs and snails have migrated north to see how the new bridge is progressing. My garden is overrun with them. I have lost a lot of plants. 2 of 3 mini hostas have disappeared completely. They were doing well until the slugs and snails climbed in to the fishbox trough they were in. I resorted to Slug Clear liquid and it helped until we had lots of rain.

They are back here with a vengeance since we've had a bit of rain! I had to resort to slug pellets. I do hope your hostas come back.

We have had a great summer but every now and then we have had torrential rain. I have been very worried about my hostas in the trough and three times they have disappeared overnight due to slug or snail damage. Only one seems to be recovering after this last attack. The trouble with the liquid is that it needs to be reapplied if there is rain. My cardiocrinum giganteum are all shredded too. I have never had any success with slug pellets as they seem to attract more than they get rid of. Somebody was saying the other day that you need very few slug pellets so maybe I was too generous with them.

Yes, use only 4 or 5 per plant. They are an attractant therefore the more you put down the more you get.
Buy the good quality ones too, I think it's called Erazaslug, or something similar. They last through the rain.
My neighbour usually plants pansies and despite me advising her not to, insists on using around half a bottle per plant. The upside is that it attracts the ones from my garden too. Sadly this year she hasn't grown any this year, therefore am having to sort them out myself!

I'll look for that brand in the GC. I hate using them because we do have thrushes around the garden and I would hate to chase them away. They are efficient disposers of snails and leave broken shells by their anvil, a favourite stone or maybe it is just convenient to where they hunt.
