lol Amy surprised me too. never grown it before, no idea how long it'd take to settle in, but going on previous experience with other plants, expected it to be longer than this. If it goes on, I shoul dbe hargesting this summer!

Hi Fran, glad your rhubarb is doing well. We have 3 plants and this is their 4th year. We have just picked enough stalks to make two pies with.

my friend brough round another stack of stalks, so I've got some to keep me going till mine's ready to harvest.
Notice great big holes in the leaves, so I'm obviously not the only one round here that likes rhuharb! so long as they just stick to eating the leaves, I've got an problem ...

I wish you success in growing the roots, and lots of rhubarb to pick Fran.

thanks, Linda. My friend Ron kindly supplied the roots, dug up that morning from his garden; he also brought over two kilos of cut stalks, so he's obviously doing well with his! I'm not sure how soon I can start cutting, but as he brought me over another carrier bag full today, I can wait a while

We don't cut our rhubarb but pull it so that the base of the leaf stem comes clean away by itself from the bottom.

ah, right, thanks for that! I never thoguht to look closely at the stalks I've been given to see how they'd been separated. I can see I need to do some more reading up!
