Motinot !!! :)
I actually went looking for some and came away without ..... only because of the labels advice .... they need full sun it said and i wanted to put it in a semi shade border :(
Normally i take no notice of these things but i have no knowledge on Dahlias and didn't want it to kick the bucket immediately.
What do you think? Should i have put them there? I just bet if i go back that GC will have sold out!

Louise, this dahlia does not get full sun all day. In fact, it is shaded to some extent by a silver birch. I think the advice is full sun, but I have at least 2 that do very well in part shade! Hope that helps. Lou x

Aha!
It helps a lot, i think i'll try them then, saw some nice ones but was put off by that info.

I have some in my wide border, Louise, it gets sun in the morning only. They do well there.

Hmmm, i've been looking into them already !!!
Where do you both buy from ?
I've decided that the ones that appeal to me - a Dahlia disliker - (!) are the 'Waterlily' type.
The others i don't care for, there doesn't seem to be a lot of suppliers when you 'search' for Dahlias on the web.

You should look at the pompom/ball type too! Winchester Growers spring to mind, otherwise I have a local chap that I buy from. You will undoubtedly find what you want on the WG site though, although I imagine they will be for 2010 delivery now.

Didn't get far with the WG site but looked at the National Dahlia Collection link seperately ...... WHAT a great site.
Am making lists as we speak :)))
