Outside Stan. I have one in my conservatory in a big tub, flowers most years.

I have two in pots in my conservatory, but they can be temperamental and don't flower every year... :o(

Looking good Stan. I've got plenty of leaves but nothing else. I followed advice on here at the beginning of 2016 and had it in light in a greenhouse from spring to late October 16 but still nothing doing.

They love sunlight. If you have to have blooms in winter, then you need metal halide lighting on them. It might be worth it..a plant grown under 1,000 watts in a large pot in bloom could be that rewarding.
Now,here,I can see them in bloom before mine on the plants used as street dividers...dawn to dusk sun and hot asphalt. I think they bloom 90% of the year that way. Mine go in flushes all year.
There is an all yellow version that might be a great sight to have lining a driveway...

Stan,
It looks very good! It's loving the rain!
My big plant in the front yard is flowering, too. I estimate the plant to be around 50 years old.

Once you have them, you keep them forever!

Yes, they're extremely long-lived plants.
I think my neighbor's huge bird-of-paradise is much older.

I notice..when a house is sold? Just about every tree or shrub gets taken out eventually by the new owners, except BOP. Like it would be sacrilegious to hurt them. Beloved by Californians plants.

Yes, it's a beloved plant. It's grown here by the millions. :))

It came to that another plant always treasured? Howea palms.
Nobody cuts one down. In fact, people feel lucky to buy a home with thriving Howeas.

Stan,
Yes, most of the time. I have seen a few Howeas cut down here in San Diego. :>(( They were large old trees, also.
