I cut this right back too autumn 2010 at it was quite sick its huge now and well worth doing PP.

Oh, I love this sanctuary shrub! So beautiful and modest. Lovely :)) Mine still has buds, hope it will start to bloom in a month.

I think Pliny mentioned it somewhere in his papers, that they used to grow close to shrines. But have to check in my book when I come home.

I think they may suffer in humid or rainy areas. They are predominantly mediterranean plants, that is they love lot of sun and dry weather. Mine never suffered from any disease, but I lost some, too, thanks to frosts without snow. If there is snow cover, it is OK, but dry winter can damage it.
But agree, something special on this shrub.
