Do foxgloves set seed easily?

I grew my own seeds and planted about 50 in my garden, their first flowers were huge some reaching 5'. They are now in their second flowering and still look good. Are they likely to set seed in shaded area with sandy soil or do I have to go through the process of sewing seeds again?

It's normally a case of weeding out the excess when you shake the seed heads over the ground - they are really prolific. They are happiest in shade, as you have found from their flowering.

When this lot of flowers end, leave some of the heads on to turn to seed - cut stems down later on when the seed pods are brown and give them a good shake over the ground to distribute the seed. You can save some if you want and sow them yourself in pots - letting them fall on the ground often works, but you will get variable results as to how many actually germinate and grow, and where.
