it is an 'old' variety ie 16yrs or more. does this help in deciding variety.

I think its just Hemerocalis fulva

I think Bamboo is right. I had a very old cultivar called 'Sirius' which looked like this but it seems identical to H. fulva.

Nearest I can get for pre 1970 Day Lily is Fairy Rings from Grenfells guide to growing daylilies. Pretty name to settle for. Point and say and this Fairy Rings. Illustrated page 25.

the friend who gave me it says she thinks it is europe or europa. does that seem a possibility, it is a form of H. fulva.
