Last 2 years I have used " sacks" that I bought to grow potatoes.[can buy from garden centres , have 2 carry handles ].
My potatoes have been eaten ....BUT I have set some more in them trial and error........possibly put in greenhouse later if I decide to carry on into the winter months.I like trying different things

Great idea Pammie, I never thought of putting them in containers of some kind so you could move them, You've got me thinking now ??????????????

Those 'potato bags' are great. I've just harvested the first of an impressive crop of new 'Maris Piper' and they were delicious. Tesco, eat your heart out.(sorry about the pun) That seems like a good idea, planting again and keeping the bags in the greenhouse, for Christmas tatties. I'm gonna try that!
C'mon Ian, race ya!

That doesn't matter. You won't need it 'til the winter comes. Stop making excuses. You blokes are all the same!

We'll see who's making excuses when my spuds are dwarfing yours LOl:~))

It has been known for people to plant a few potatoes about now for 'new' potatoes to have with their christmas lunch but they would take a lot of caring for. Potatoes do not like frost and will curl up and roll over at the first sign of any. If you 'earth up' your spuds and use fleece and/or straw to protect them then it is perfectly viable to achieve some lovely 'newies' for christmas. good luck and please let me know how you get on :-))
