what is eating my hydrangea

outside of plant is ok, but underneath, leaves and flowers are being eaten

Check for slugs and snails - there's lots about and they may well be dining on your hydrangea, which is why the damage is towards the centre and sheltered parts of the plant. I assume you've checked for signs of infestation by aphids, etc., or infection?
