Please does anyone know what this plant is? I saw it at an open garden today. It was at least 4' tall and the flowers were the size and shape of a Clematis texensis. An upright plant, with very large leaves.

It could be, Nicky, thanks - yes, the yellow flowers do belong to it. I have a herbaceous Clem, but nothing like this!

Oooo - you're so impetuous, though it is a 'wow' type plant. Would this be for the comfrey border?

Herbaceous Clematis id think. I assume the Yellow trumpet flowers belong to it. Herbaceous ones tend to have large leaves spaced well apart up the stem with the flowers on think stems. Rough leaves too
