Poppy seeds

I have a Garden Gnome poppy which is just coming into flower. Am I right in thinking (with a little help from Google) that if I leave the stems after the petals have dropped they will swell and dry. Then I can get the seeds out and plant them for next year? Thanks, Emma.

Or just leave them to drop naturally and grow where they fall :-)

That is correct, Emma. They may not be exactly the same colour but htey should grow OK. They might take a couple of years to flower, though.
After you have collected the seeds you could use the dry seed heads as part of an autumn flower decoration.
