I have grown tons of ornamental kale/cabbage this year from seed, they are SO easy - just put some to overwinter in the raised bed, the central leaves are beginning to catch some colour. As I understand it they do withstand very cold temperatures (down to 5F/ about -15C) according to a US grower and the colour gets better the colder it is.

That's intriguing - you can buy ornamental cabbage at this time of year, but I'm not sure about cauliflower - could it be a cabbage you've got? If so, it's only a short lived thing, meant for tubs, etc., and will be dead by Christmas anyway - won't tolerate really cold temperatures. Any chance of a pic in case its actually ornamental cauli?
