winter pansys and spring bulbs

Co Durham, United Kingdom

Is it ok to put spring flowering bulbs such as tulips, dwarf iris and daffs in with winter pansys now?

Answers

Great idea, Zoostrel. The pansies will give colour through the winter to be followed by the bulbs.
You missed out on Crocus. Some of the Crocus chrysanthus forms will start to flower as early as January and could compliment the pansies. If the pansies die back before the bulbs are finished, remember to remove them carefully.

I quite often mix bulbs and pansies and primroses so that later in the season you get a continuation of colour - first pansies etc then the bulbs - it should look great!
