We planted purple sprouting brocolli in July and it has grown really HUGE - over 180 cms! Is this normal? Has it shot and is useless? Should we just have patience and be rewarded with a lovely crop in February? We have a very small garden and it's taking over. Please help.

I agree - trim the tops but nothing else. You should have a good crop. I remember the first time I grew PSB many years ago. They too were huge, but they gave us a huge crop.

Cut it down and use the tops, stalks as well as leaves. Make a cross on the top of the stalk and it will go on and break, giving you about 4 heads in the spring or late winter.
