which species of rootstock is most suitable to graft apples

this depends on what sort of tree you want, the popular one in britten at the moment because it produces a lot of fruit and grows to around nine feet is m9 root stock, that is what I am growing in cheshire,

In general, the more dwarfing the rootstock, the more you will need to feed and coddle the tree. You pays your money and you takes your choice.
