A different kind of question - haven't been on here for ages but thought I would share with you my rotten news which is that last week vandals burnt down my shed with every single tool & garden sundry in it. There was no possible way of retrieving anything from it but I thought I'd ask fellow GOYers what five things they'd rescue if they had the chance. The thing I think I am most upset about were a collection of Sarah Raven dahlias (a gift from a dear friend)that I'd looked after most carefully and were the most fabulous colours.

What a shame and curses on whoever did it. I have a trowel which was my mothers so apart from that, whatever I could grab.

Heartbreaking - you poor soul. Most of my stuff is in the garage - just chemicals & potting stuff in the shed, so I would try to rescue the sturdy potting bench that I brought with me from Stafford. Not much chance of that though if the shed was on fire.

I'm really sorry to hear of your problems.

My shed contents are insured but given the chance I'd save an ancient hoe used by my grandfather and a toolbox made by my father,

What mindless actions. I do feel sorry for you, Hope you have insurance to rplace the material contents.

Dont know what I'd save to be honest.

That really is dreadful, my heart goes out to you Cornishsally, it beggars belief how some vandals get their kicks. Really sad that you have lost your special Dahlias too. My greenhouse holds lots of our shed stuff in the winter......but to find our collection of potted Fuchsias had been destroyed would be devastating.
I have been given lots of dahlia seeds by a lovely neighbour including some of the Bishop type. You are more than welcome to some.

Sorry to hear this, the 5 things I think are most important are a spade, fork, trowel, rake and a hoe, others might say differently, but with these 5 items you can manage most jobs in the garden, Derek.

What about loppers and secateurs Derek? Don't get burned rescuing all that lot!

I am so sorry to hear that:( I don't know what this world is coming to. Some people just don't care. I would try and save my Terra cotta pots that I collected over the years.
