Ranunculus Asiatica. Just seen the most beautiful flowers here in Jimigs pics, they look like a cross between poppies and anemones. does anyone know if they grow well here?

I have had limited sucess. I grew the tubers and they flowered the first year. they did survive a mild winter and put up leaves but no flowers the second & thrid year. we then had a cold winter and that was that.

Do you have to start them off inside? perhaps they could be grown in pots and brought in?

I did start mine in pots in Feb and put them out side when in bud. One stayed in a pot for two years but no repeat flowering. I suspect they are debudded to build up the tuber and then sold , like hyacinths. subsequent years the flowers are smaller.

Previous question
I have never tried to grow them, Bornagain. I have seen them in the wild in Cyprus and I know that they grow in Israel. These countries have very hot and dry summers so I think it doubtful that they would grow in the UK without very special cultivation conditions. I agree though, that they are beautiful.
