my ornimental grass has been hit quite hard by the winter weather, can i cut it back and will it grow back again, any addvice plez

Where you live, Sandra, I'd be inclined to wait till end of March, unless we suddenly have a balmy spring...

ok will do bamboo, its still very cold here, i have lots of dead foilage but have been leaving it to keep new shoots warm even though it does look messy,

Compared to London, it is, BS - I note every year that Farnham in Surrey is at least two weeks behind us here in Spring, never mind Blackpool

You're just splitting hairs Bamboo... you can cut back these grasses in late Feb, early March, or late March if you really want to, the vagaries of the British climate will make not one jot of difference to the well being of this particular grass.... but then again what do I know....only been growing grasses for 25 years.

Do you have the name of this San ,I have it I think but can't find the label ?
I think it is ok, the last time I looked it had new shoots coming from the base.

yes your right aster im so fed up , things need to be started and im not able to do some of them, my son helping get some stumps out but has to be between his busy social life lol

I checked on mine yesterday San...it was only a tiny piece last year....its looking dry and brown...but I can see green underneath....:o)

glad it answered your question to motinot, and thanx janey i will check if any new growth, also my new pink pampas grass looks dead but when i went to gc today so did theirs and saw new growth on them so im hoping mine is ok to, its only young :o)
