We have tender plants in pots and each year we loose some in winter we have tried protecting them but we still loose some. I have an insulated shed and we were going to try keeping them in their but the problem is there are no windows in it to let light in would that be a problem ?
Also how often should they be watered?

Depends what they are. I wouldn't recommend putting much in a dark shed. I have managed to keep some plants in the shelter of buildings or with bubble wrap. What are the plants?

Some plants, mostly woody-stemmed tropical plants can be overwintered in a dark place. They will go dormant until spring. They need next to no water, just keep the soil slightly moist as too much water can cause the roots to rot.

A shed can be even colder than the outside - all a shed does is protect from frost, not freezing temperatures. I would be very careful in watering any plant placed in dormancy in the dark.

If they have leaves they won't survive long in the dark.

If not too big I usually keep them on the window sills of 2 double glazed but unheated bedrooms and the integral garage and I give them very little water.

How do I say thanks?
