hello, not many things will grow under conifers due to how dry and compact the soil gets with the conifer roots, something i found by accident was the Campanula portenschlagiana (bellflower), i had dug some of these up with the intention of putting them some where else and as a stop gap i put them under a large conifer hedge out of the sun to do later, as you do i forgot about them , these plants actually grew rampant under these conifers much to my surprise and up to a couple of years ago when we removed the conifers completly the campanula,s loved this position and gave me a wonderfull show for a long time, worth a try.
