Hallo - I'm impatient! My Clematis armandii has been in for 4 years and hasn't flowered yet. It has some large fat buds, and I'm hoping that somebody might be able to tell me if they're flower buds or just new side shoots. Please???

Actually, Alice, the clematis is clambering up a damson tree - so if you are expecting me to climb up a ladder to sniff them...sorry, I can't climb ladders. :-((

I would say they are flower buds, Spritz. The ones on the first picture behind the flower should be new leaf buds.
