There are some strains that cope better with winter weather and are sold as winter flowering (the old Universal range). But they are perennials and will flower at various times of the year. You can trim them back as they get tatty and they should get bushier.

yes they do come back but im sure they do summer ones to, our village nursery has got some in as summer bedding pansys, not sure, maybe all the same lol
