We are a family of vegetarians and eat lots of lentils (and other pulses.) Can I grow lentils in UK do you know and if so where would I get the seeds from?

Have found that Italian seeds do green lentils for a fiver a 100gm box...but don't want a whole field full. All the info i have found so far tends to refer to commercial growing not in a back yard.
Has any one grown chick peas?
