You could keep your grass repair the concrete patio and put some tubs with hardy annuals such as pansies, busy lizzy, petunia, you saying that you have a trampoline then you must have kids so also why not some large sunflowers

To my way of thinking grass is not low maintenance as it needs mowing every week during the growing season. However, if you do have children then you probably do need grass (unless like we used to do you send you kids down to the local park - in our case a 1 minute walk). If you don't have children look at lifting a lot of the lawn, putting down a weed membrane and the topping off with planters and ornamental features - please note this is not the sort of garden we would live with ours is labour intensive!

Another alternative would be to create a herbaceous border. Lots of fully herbaceous perennials with some shrubs. Tall at back shorter in front. If you plant it solidly enough and then mulch with decorate bark you should have little weeding to do. You would need to cut back the perennials in winter. I would also add spring flowering bulbs and annuals to give added interest. Good luck Jred and welcome to GoY. Don;t feel that low maintenance has to be boring it doesn't!
