Will H F Young clematis grow on a north facing wall? The roof shades the wall from afternoon sun and it would only get some sun in the morning.

Does better with more sun, but should be fine - otherwise, good ones for that situation are Nelly Moser, Hagley Hybrid, Niobe

This is called H P Young. Tag on plant says part sun. I am just wondering if it will bloom as well in that location. Our summers get very hot here and thought this location might be good to keep roots cool. Thank you for your help!

Don't know one called H.P. Young, only H. F Young. As you've got it, give it a try.

I meant to say H. F. Young.

It is a good idea to make extra efforts to keep the base of a clematis cool...
rocks, stones, bricks around the base. I hope this helps :o)

Thank you Terratoonie! Yes, that is one thing I remember I had read about clematis...to keep the roots cool. This spot in my rock garden should be perfect for that. I just hope it blooms well without much sun.

Hi again Cherita...
Seems like the clematis will cope quite well ...
... hopefully, some while from now, you'll be able to show us a photograph of a happy clematis :o)

How do I say thanks?
