I would like to plant wisteriaa on a north facing wall. The house is not overlooked so the the light is not blocked by any other building. Will the plant thrive?

It sounds like the wrong aspect to me - they do like a warm position
with plenty of sun. I think you'd get leaves but few flowers there.

That's been my experience, too--even in the desert.

You will have more chance of success if you buy a grafted one, we paid over £30 ten years ago for ours but it has flowered every year.

Wisteria like to be facing either South or West according to Gardeners World!! mine is in a North facing garden gets the sun in the morning from the East and again in the afternoon as the sun moves around the bungalow to the West! but it is on a arch not a wall! if on the north facing wall it might be too shady.
