Bluetits being pecked by sparrows!!!!. Not strickly a gardening question, but why are they doing this? its rather upsetting to watch. I have loads of food in my garden - plenty for all. The sparrows are ganging up on the bluetits and pecking them in the face!!!!!. I know mother nature is a law unto herself but am I doing anything wrong??

You might be interested to know that I get Great Tits as well as Blue tits in the winter - as soon as a Great Tit comes to the table, all the bluetits leave immediately, and if they don't, the great tit sees them off...

One of my numerous useless facts: if you look at teh chest of a great tit there is a black stripe. The wider or more prominent the black stripe, the more dominent the bird....not sure how the bird knows this tho?!

No you're not - this is just nature, and nothing to do with you, Great, this sort of thing goes on all the time, they're just competing for resources. Humans would do something very similar if resources were short as well - its about survival.
