Japanese anemones
I bought 2 small Japanese anemones nearly a month ago. I planted them in a shady spot near a north-facing brick wall. I kept them well watered but suddenly they both shrivelled and died. We did have a cold spell early this month but not cold enough for frost. Can anyone tell me why this could have happened? Many thanks.

I managed to get a bit of weed killer on mine by accident last year and they disappeared. I was gutted and was going to buy another this year but hey presto, up they came again this year. So relieved.

Lucky you. I have just spent the day pouring weedkiller on Japanese anemones. In this garden they are out and out thugs.
They do seem to prefer a bit of sun and it may well be that they have been too well watered. You never know, they are tough plants, they may well reappear.
