I bought this at the garden centre in 2008. I was on the sale bench for 20p and a tiny very sickly looking specimen it was. It has grown into a lovely healthy, showy plant. Does anyone know it's name? It appears to enjoy it's shady moist position in the garden.

Thank you all very much - I have now managed to look this up in detail. You are clever, it is a Ligularia!....Ligularia dentata 'Desdemona'.

These are great plants. Shady, moist soil. Mind the slugs as they tend to love this one.
I have had mine for years. It dies down every year and as soon as it warms up, up he comes again. I have no problem with getting new ones from the seeds, I then pass on to friends or sell at the garden club show.
He has what I call round yellow flowers. Try and get hold of a Ligularia prezwalskii as these have a huge tall flower spikes and large jagged leaves that complement the dentata really well.

The slugs have been having a go already T&T. I will look out for 'prezwalskii' - thanks for the tip.
