Could anyone tell me what these are please? They are full of seeds. I didn't see them when they were "in bloom", so can't tell if they are weeds or not.

I'd agree with aquilegia. Nice enough to leave and let them self-seed. If you find that you're over-run with them next year they're easily pulled up.

Thank you all, I've googled Aquilegia and they look rather nice so I'll collect the seeds and save them for next year , Cheers

Hi, you don't have to do anything special with Aquilegia seed, just take off a seed head, and scatter them wherever you want them, and leave them alone, Derek.

Aquilegia are perennials so unless you want to increase your stock you don't even need to collect the seed.

Thanks folks but they're not in my garden, they're in a neighbours, so I'm looking out for seeds for mine next year. Just moved down here and my garden is a bit sparse.

In that case, ask neighbour if you can collect ripe seed heads and then scatter freely. If you have a Wyevale garden centre nearby they are offering seed packets for 50p at the moment.
