Probably. I have a cream flowered one in a container (and its daughter in another pot as well). The mother didn't thrive in the border, but has done very well in a large container as described above. I use John Innes no. 3.. The recommendation re pruning is useful, as they can become very leggy.

For a while, yes - it doesn't like very exposed or hot and sunny situations though. Use a container 18 inches deep by the same wide as a minimum, prune rigorously after flowering.
