Am I growing a weed?

i got this plant for free among others, and I just dont know what it is. The others all turned out to be something ... flowers, tomatoes ... but this one .. I can't figure out!'Have I been watering a weed or is this a ugly duckling that will turn into a swan?

I agree and a very pretty one at that. Coleus are non-hardy (frost will kill it) ornamentals grown for their foliage.
