How to hide an eye sore?

I think a deep and wide border is the answer, actually - if you make a border 5 or 6 feet deep from front to back, and then make sure you plant 2 or 3 taller shrubs, preferably evergreen, they will grow up beyond the fenceline and block your view. Trellis sections stuck on top would look odd, and I'm not sure how you'd do it anyway without it looking awful. Trouble is, I'm not sure whether your garden is big enough for a border that's wide enough from front to back to do the job!

Thank you Bamboo, this section of the garden is 7.5 x 7.5m, I don't particularly want a border as deep as 6ft though to be honest, I think 3ft would be the depth I'm looking at. I think I may temporarily staple some bamboo or willow rolls to the fence whilst I'm waiting for the plants to grow.....hopefully not too long! Although I think the willow will improve the boring fence anyway.
Any suggestions for fast growing shrubs/trees?

Not really if its only going to be 3 feet deep - you'll have to use columnar plants only, because anything that gets 10 feet high will also need to have a spread of at least five or even six feet. Better check out columnar shaped conifers, I guess.

Thank you Terratoonie. Some good ideas here, I was looking at clematis actually, so your trellis idea on metposts might be a way forward.

maybe plant a mixture of evergreen and deciduous clematis..
