What to do with indoor spent bulbs? Not sure what narcissus it is but would either like to plant them in garden or let them flower next year?

Answers

Deadhead them and plant them in the garden now. They should flower every Spring and spread.

Thanks Cammomile, will do once I'm out and about. Been struck down with a cold, stomach bug and nasty cough! Fighting a fewer with any drug I can get my hands on, and all that on my birthday!!

Hi Amsterdam, try my cure for a cold, get a candle, bottle of whisky, and go to bed, light the candle, start drinking the whisky, when you see 2 candles, put them both out and go to sleep, your cold wont bother you next morning.
I agree with Cammomile btw.
Try and have a happy birthday, Derek.

Thanks Derek. Was given a bottle of gin so might take that to bed instead! Also got a few gardening pressies so that cheered me up!

Happy Birthday,Amsterdam, albeit a poorly one..I laughed out loud at Derek's remedy ! lol..When you feel up to it,do as Cammomile suggests, but let the stems die down naturally, then cut them off They help to feed the bulbs for next year. I would add a label in case you forget where they are..I'm speaking from past experience here..the times I have cut some in half when digging over with a trowel !
Get well soon ....

I am pleased to find someone who dislikes Whisky. Its just beyond me as to why so many drink it. On a coach trip in
Scotland the highlight was a visit to a Whisky Distillery with a large free glass of the muck. I gave mine to a man who was delighted to get a double dose. Wonder if he is still alive ?

Same thing for
Agatha Christie stories, so repetitive and boring. Toffs
pretending to be what they are not. Dead bodies etc.

Give me Goy members any day !

Woken up today feeling slightly better but just wishing the sun would come out to shine on my spring garden and cheer me up. Got hubby to fill up bird feeders yesterday so I could watch birds from the sofa- getting really tired with just doing no'ing!

Yes, I'm sure you are Amsterdam, but nothing much is exactly what you should be doing, give the body a chance to recover after its exhausting fight with an invading army of virus particles.

On the subject of drink, I don't like alcohol - with the exception of a dry martini (from the bottle, not mixed) with lots of lemonade. Not sure I fancy it hot though...

I'm a sucker for gin n tonic although I don't drink it very often. I do feel as though a war of good 'n bad particles is being fought inside of me! Blimey wish they would hurry up and get on with it, obviously want the 'good' guys to win so I can get on with getting back to my good ol self!!!!

Fresh fruits and vegetables goes a long way in fighting colds - and homemade chicken soup.

Thanks Bathgate. I wish I just had a cold however I am beind attacked on all fronts, a cold, the stomach and a fever. Tomorrow is another day and a step closer to recovery....

Hope you feel better Amsterdam and the sun shines for you soon. Many others on this site echo the same sentiments & crying for the sun.

Hear, hear!!

Too flipping right, lack of the sunshine does my head in, its enough to make a person feel down without suffering with a nasty virus as well, I was poorly a couple of weeks back, could have fell out with my own shadow, you'll get there Amsterdam, hopefully before we turn you into a drunkard, lol.....

Yes am close to turning to the bottle to drown my sorrow/frustration of not being to get out in the garden, lol! On top of that Easter weekend looks rubbish weather wise!

Move here to New York! Mostly sunshine, a shower now and then but not all day long.

21 Mar, 2016

Been there, done that! Used to live and work in Newport, R.I. I am very content here in rural Shropshire despite the weather, alrhough a little more sun would be greatly appreciated.:)

Oh that's nice. I love Rhode Island, in Summertime. It was just a 'tongue in cheek' comment. Be well.

21 Mar, 2016

I will let mine die down, then place in a cardboard box with some litter or peat to keep them moist, and keep over the summer months in the greenhouse. Must remember to put a label in !

How do I say thanks?
