Gunnera manicata I think? I've just bought one of these for my small garden, it's stayibg in a large pot in the small bog garden.

Why would anyone want one of these ugly things ? Although I pulled one up when my wife was in charge and was in all sorts of trouble.

I'd have one like a shot with a big enough garden and pond, they are so unusual.

They are! That's why I've got one! But I've a very small garden so it's in a pot in a bog garden/ very small pond

Cammomile take a look at Gunnera magellanica stays low and creeps around - would that we had space for one of the manicatas! Seeing them at Inverewe gardens was totally inspiring!

I love them. There is an enormous one by a koi pond at a local garden centre and its magnificent.

Hank honesty compels me -I don't care for them much either - don't like to leave you out there on your own!

I've found a more manageable large leaf plant for a small garden called darmera paltata which looks great in a large pot although I'm not sure it grows as big as the picture I've seen, in this country. I've just posted a pic of it on my page.

I have darmera peltata too! Just bought this and the gunnera! Darmera is in the ground behind the pond to add a little height! Has lovely pink flowers in the spring too!

It grows tall but is more manageable! I work at a watergarden specialist and there's both there and the gunnera makes the darmera look tiny!
