The hardy fuschias in my garden which have been there for 10 years plus all have deformed growing tips. it looks like broccoli florets. Searching on the internet it appears it could be fuschia gall mite. Has anybody come across this in the London area this year.

Yes, its fairly widespread in the south and west country. You can try removing the affected parts and disposing of them, but if they're bad next year, the only answer is to dig them up and get rid of them, preferably not composting them, nor sending them in the green recycling bin to the local recycling depot.
