Unknown tree with pretty white flowers: if anyone can ID it I'd be very grateful, thanks.

Thank you Jimmy . . . I was with a group of wild flower enthusiasts . . . obviously better at flowers than trees. I will let them know your expert opinion!

Don't try to eat the berries. I don't know if they are poisonous or not but they taste so vile that you will spit the first one straight out! (from personal experimentation)

Easy to propagate.

Julien - from seed? The tree is in a nearby meadow, but I could go back some time to see when the seeds are ripe . . . any idea when that would happen?

Hi this chap I work for who is 95 propagated one from a small semi ripe cutting, he always tells me about this bless him, recently as Monday, the tree looks fantastic, I will get the info from him for you next Monday and post it here for you.

Thanks Julien. There's not really room in my garden for another tall tree, but it's always fun trying to propagate from cuttings . . . if it works, I can always keep it "dwarf"!

Hi Shielabub, I have spoken with him today and this is how he did the cutting, well in fact it was his wife, they were in Germany, and she took four semi ripe cuttings round about this time of year, she then put them in a plastic bag blew some air in and tied the bag, they stayed like this for four days and once off the plane she potted and nurtured them, she says all four survived and are in friends gardens, that was twenty five years ago, so I am going to have ago myself, hope this helps.

Prunus padus, known as bird cherry. Someone asked this one last week, I believe.
