Araucaria heterophylla

I have a 2.5 ft specimen of Araucaria heterophylla. Love it to bits. It's in a small pot about 5 inches across at the top. My questions are - Should it be in a bigger pot? I've got it in a sunny spot indoors. Will it be harmed by central heating? Bit worried about it surviving the winter in a drier atmosphere than it's used to. Are pots of water nearby a good idea?
Thanks for any information :) Jaki

Cheers Fractal.
It's Heterophylla.
I thought the pot might be a bit small as it needs watering quite often. I wont put it near a radiator but a conservatory is a dream :) If i pot it on now with good all purpose compost would I need to feed or should I leave that til spring?
It smells wonderful! I really fell in love with it so want it to thrive.
What's the ideal temperature over Winter, anyone? I could put it in the slightly cooler bathroom if that would help, but although quite big and bright it doesn't get much sun.
Thanks!

It will be in its juvenile stage at the moment with more spiky foliage so can take a little less direct sun. Bathroom sounds fine. The adult foliage is more closely adpressed to the stems and more overlapping. This is when it needs more light. I wouldn't worry too much about that yet though.
Feeding? wait till spring. Normal room temperature is fine so between 16-20 deg above freezing.

You might want to rotate it every so often.
Ours (and some other peoples') have a habit of growing longer branches towards the light - which means when we finally remember to turn it - it reaches halfway across our kitchen bar........

Hi Jaki. Do you know which type or species of Araucaria? I am assuming its A. heterophylla? If so, they don't like to be near a radiator. Conservatory is best in good light. Yes, I would also pot it on into a pot about twice the size, certainly in spring if not now.
