Plant ID please.
This attractive plant is growing in my mothers garden. Neither of us can remember planting it last year. It looks as though it is from garden centre as base is in a compost. The new foliage is a purple/crimson and the stems are a bright crimson red. No plant label to find. thanks.

I was thinking one of the dark leaves penstemons as a possibility.

It looks rather like my penstemon "Dark Towers" but can't be sure.

If the leaves are in pairs on the stem, it is likely to be a Penstemon.
