welcome to GoY.
as Bamboo says what plant? and she is correct about the tea bags. there are some of the bags in my compost bin that have been there 3+ yrs, all the tea leaves have gone but the bags remain.

The bags are made of plastic. Best to empty the tea leaves into the compost bin.

Yorkshire teabags use paper and I think PG tips do too. but many don't.

Definitely don't use tea bags or leaves on container plants, anyway. Too much acid and tannins.

Yorkshire tea bags which we have used for years don't break down in my compost bin. I have always thought they are plastic. Organic ones do break down but I just empty them anyway.

The problem with composting tea bags is actually the glue they use rather than the bag itself, because it contains plastic like material - a couple of companies have switched to a different glue in the last year or so, might be Yorkshire Tea and PG, but I can't remember who they are.

definitely Yorkshire tea did because lots of people found the bags tore if they stirred too hard!

Aha! That's it then SBG; I'm talking about a few years ago when i was fed up of pulling the bags out of the compost. I've got used to emptying them now which i find satisfying. The rate they build up shows me just how much tea I drink!

the pile by our kettle shows me how many cuppas oh allows to go cold! I find splitting tea bags satisfying too.

You have an OH who does that too Seaburn? Mine does it regularly and any query on how long the tea has been brewing doesn't usually go down well!

You have not said what plant you want to feed, but teabags 'feed' nothing at all - they can be added to a compost heap, though depending on the brand, you may need to remove the outer bag and just put the leaves on the heap.
